Born in Nantou County, Taiwan. In addition to teaching classes in Zushi and Kyoto, she has been “conveying tea” in Japan, China, Taiwan, and other countries. She selects tea leaves that best suit the occasion and wakes tea from its sleep with her whole heart. What do you receive and realize in just that one place and moment of tasting a cup of tea? It creates a time to forget the world, to put oneself aside, and to encounter one’s inner strength.

台湾省・南投県生まれ。逗子、京都にて教室を展開するほか、日本、中国、台湾などで「茶を伝える」活動を展開。その時その場に響くであろう茶葉を選び、一心に茶を眠りから起こし開かせるー。一杯の茶湯を味わう、ただそれだけの場とひとときに何を受け取り、何に気付くのかー。世界を忘れ、我を置き、自分の内側に秘めた力に出会う時間を創造してくれます。

Born 1982 in New York City. He was awarded a Terra Foundation Fellowship in 2016. His work has been featured in numerous media outlets, including “The Independent,” and is in the collections of HRH the Prince of Wales, The Royal Abu Dhabi Collection, and others. He combines influences from contemporary and traditional Japanese art forms such as ukiyo-e, shunga, and manga with elements of British landscape painting and American graphic art to create a one-of-a-kind world of work.

1982年ニューヨーク生まれ。シカゴ、ロンドンでビジュアルアート/哲学/ドローイングを、東京藝術大学大学院で日本画を修得。2016年、テラ財団フェローシップ受賞。「The Independent」など多数のメディアで特集されるほか、HRH the Prince of Wales, The Royal Abu Dhabi Collectionなどに作品が所蔵。浮世絵、春画、漫画などの現代および伝統的な日本の芸術様式の影響とイギリスの風景画やアメリカのグラフィック・アートの要素を融合し、唯一無双の作品世界を展開。

Born in 1977 in Shiga Prefecture. Grandfather is Seiemon Tani. Graduated from Seian University of Art and Design’s three-dimensional art class, and in 2001, after receiving instruction in rocro from Juzo Kitamura, joined the family business, Seiemon Pottery. He describes the structure of his pottery as imperfect like a pot. He continues to produce Shigaraki ware with its neat construction and unique scenery created by natural glaze.

1977年滋賀県生まれ。祖父は、谷清右衛門。成安造形大学立体造形クラス卒業。2001年、北村寿三氏にロクロの指導を受けた後、家業の清右衛門陶房へ。自身の陶芸の仕組みを壺さながらの不完全さと表現。端正なつくりと自然釉による独特の景色を持つ信楽焼を生み出し続けている。
